Affiliate Disclosure
The complete explanation of how this website earns money, written so you can judge our recommendations properly.
The short version
Lucky Silver Cloud is an independent travel information website. The site may in future use referral or affiliate links to relevant accommodation, tour and experience providers. If you book through such a link, we may receive a commission at no additional cost to you.
That is the intended business model. It is not fully live yet: as of today, this site does not contain any active referral or affiliate links. This page describes how the model is designed to work once it is switched on, so the arrangement is clear before it starts rather than after.
There is no paywall and no subscription. If a referral link is introduced on a page you are reading, you will always be free to search for the same provider directly instead — the site works the same either way.
How a referral link would work
A referral or affiliate link contains a code that identifies Lucky Silver Cloud as the referrer. If a visitor clicks one and subsequently books, the provider or an affiliate network would pay us a small percentage of that booking.
The price a visitor pays is set by the provider and would not be increased because they arrived through us — we would be paid out of the provider’s existing margin, in the same way a travel agent or comparison site is.
Attribution typically relies on a cookie or identifier set by the third-party provider at the moment a link is clicked, not by Lucky Silver Cloud. Because no such links are live yet, no attribution of this kind is currently happening on this site.
Where these links would appear
If introduced, referral or affiliate links would most likely appear in:
- accommodation pages and category descriptions;
- tour and experience recommendations;
- weekend escape itineraries;
- occasional email newsletters.
Not every outbound link would be an affiliate link. Links to national park authorities, government sources, emergency services and weather bureaus would never earn us anything, and we already link to sources like these across the site.
What commission does not do
This is the part that matters:
- It does not buy inclusion. No business pays to appear in the Lucky Hills Collection or in any guide.
- It does not change our opinion. Where we say something is worth the drive, that is our editorial view, arrived at independently.
- It does not change what you pay. The rate is the provider’s, not ours.
- It would not create a partnership. An affiliate relationship with a booking platform would not make us an official partner of anyone, and we will never describe it that way.
If we ever publish paid or sponsored content, it will be clearly labelled as sponsored at the top of the page. We do not currently publish any, and no such content exists on the site today.
What we will never claim
To be explicit, because the travel industry is full of this language:
- We do not guarantee the best price, the lowest price or exclusive rates.
- We do not publish prices, star ratings, awards or availability, because we cannot keep them accurate.
- We do not publish invented user reviews or testimonials.
- We are not an official tourism partner of Tourism Australia, any state or territory tourism body, any council or any park authority.
Privacy and cookies
No affiliate or referral links are live on this site today, so no affiliate cookies are currently set through it. If that changes, clicking a referral link may result in the destination site or its affiliate network placing cookies on your device — governed by their policies, not ours. Our own approach to data is set out in our Privacy Policy.

If anything here is unclear, or you think a link should have been disclosed more prominently, tell us. Email hello@luckysilvercloud.com or use our contact form. We would rather fix it than argue about it.
